Career Planner: Abilities & Masteries
Snaffy's Space —
I’ve always been addicted to the meta game of fully planning out my character using third-party products in MMORPGs. I was a big fan of Kort’s Spellcrafting Calculator for DAOC, WoW-Head’s talent tree builder for World of Warcraft, and now WarDB and WAR Character Planner for Warhammer Online.
Here’s a side-by-side comparison sheet of features (pros and cons) for you to look over. These are initial impressions of the versions I tested over the last few days. Any minor shortcomings may be addressed in future updates, so keep checking them out and ...

Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning: Open Beta Update - Day One
Curse —
... and Warhammer Alliance for all your information needs. Folks, So, while today has been incredibly stressful for our European brethren, I have lots of good news to share with all WAR fans. Here are the early results from the first day of our North American + Oceania Open Beta. Incredibly stable game experience: - 47K total users playing concurrently. We're not up to where DAoC was at peak yet but we're off to a good start eh? When Europe comes online we hope to shatter DAoC's numbers before we launch. - 27 servers deployed and running smoothly. We have 23 servers in NA, ...

Vote Now for the 2008 Greeny Awards!
Snaffy's Space —
The time for nominations has passed. The time for voting is at hand! That’s right, it’s time to pick your favourite Warhammer Online community sites of 2008! But choose wisely, for while the true Grail will bring you life, the false Grail will take it from you. Or something like that…
*** Voting will close Monday, January 19, 2009 at 9:00AM EST and the winners will be announced shortly afterward. ***

2008 Greeny Award Winners
Snaffy's Space —
The 2008 Greeny Awards attracted 2,472 votes this year, which have been tallied up by Polldaddy. It seems as though there was some voter apathy this year because many of the sites I thought would attract a tonne (or ton if you’re an imperialist) of votes, didn’t. Even the nominations were a bit soft compared to the 2007 awards.
Maybe I’ll take Syp’s advice next year and hide the results until the end of the contest because seeing that your favorite site isn’t winning can produce two negative effects: 1) voter fraud and/or 2) voter apathy. Some people may try deleting ...
3 Things Official/Unofficial Forums Do
Nerfbat —
... led to some controversy. Garthilk, a guy who actually runs very good fansites like WHA, basically called me out and asked me to list 3 things that official forums do that fansite forums can’t. I’ll do him one better by talking briefly about 3 things official forums can do that unofficial forums can’t, and 3 things unofficial forums can do that official forums can’t. I honestly believe both are necessary, and neither is actually evil. ...

More to read, crack on!
Book of Grudges —
... PhoenixRed has done us proud, and in the spirit of the WCPI, I want to bring attention to his post over at Warhammer Alliance. The article touches on the history of GOA and Mythic working together on Warhammer Online, when Mythic have made changes and GOA haven’t been able to do much except play catch-up and opens up a dialogue with WHA readers about the whole EU/US split. Now, you know this has been on our minds since the game first opened, and we’ve certainly not been shy about how we feel about it. But it’s nice ...

Book of Grudges —
... I’ve been remiss in my linking. I know that, this blog hasn’t always been at the forefront of my mind. But I do still read up everything people are contributing about WAR, and the various forums, and for that reason my WCPI contribution for this ‘period’ can only be Warhammer Alliance. ...
