biobreak.wordpress.com — Although I love talking about MMOs, and especially playing them, I would never, ever want to go into the business of making them. I’m honest enough to admit that. For some, it sounds like a dream job, and perhaps it even is to a few, but the ... (more) My Private WAR

Mythic removes time limit on WAR free trial
Massively — ... just arrived in our mailboxes and its full of frothy WAAAGH!. Predominantly featured are the 1.3.2 updates, which most of us already know about including the removal of fortresses, a new keep difficulty system, client performance improvements, and of course, the New User Journey. Check out the video podcast with producers Jeff Skalski and Josh Drescher for a full run down. A couple interesting bits stuck out for us. First, as Werit points out, Mythic has removed the 10-day time limitation on their free trial. Players ...

Werit Reaction to Mythic Removing Trial 10 Day Limit
Warhammer Vault - The Ultimate Resource — ... [image] In response to the news of Mythic removing the free trial 10 day limit, Werit thinks that while it could turn out to be a good idea, there are some questions that need answering ! The quote in the newsletter is light on some details though. Can you make as many classes as you want? Can free trial players use the apprentice system? Do buddy passes qualify as well? I'm sure we'll get these answers soon. While my first reaction was to worry, I think this is a very good idea for WAR. The New User Journey and the fun of Tier 1 RvR should get players hooked and hopefully ...

MMO Restaurants
Kill Ten Rats — I see this, and I cannot help but think of Anthony Bourdain’s view on restaurant changes. By now, unsurprisingly, our restaurant was rapidly failing.  I began to see for the first time, what I would later recognize as Failing Restaurant Syndrome, an affliction that causes owners to flail about looking for a quick fix, a fast masterstroke that will “turn things around,” cure all their ills, reverse the already irreversible trend toward insolvency.  We tried New Orleans Brunch – complete with Dixiland band.  We tried a prix fixe ...

A Mass of Tier 1 Twinks?
The Ancient Gaming Noob — ... So when I saw over at Werit’s Blog that Warhammer Online was removing the 10 Day restriction from their free trial offer, the intent was clear:  Somebody felt that more people would subscribe to the game if the free trial lasted longer. ...

Finishing up the Feed Reader
Nerf the Cat — ... A lot’s been written about the new WAR free trial, taking out the 10 day restriction and just opening up Tier 1 for free play. WAR is a game that will always be close to my heart and I would definitely boot it up sometime post-Mirkwood and play through some Nordenwatch for old time’s sake. I hope it gets them some extra subs, and ...
