Hobby Elements
Paul Barnett, said again and again during pre-release interviews for Warhammer Online that they were creating a “hobby,” rather than a simple (add British sneer here) game. His line of reasoning was that Warhammer Online required dedication, but what you got from that dedication ...

Grinding: The world's newest hobby?

thegreenskin.com 12/8/2008 — Just caught this on the YouTube . Nice to hear what’s going on, but Paul did seem a wee bit harsh on the coding manager, Colin Shannon (if he was actually being serious). I kinda started feeling bad for the guy, but then I remembered that buggy ...

Why usually ‘kill ten rats’ sucks, and how AO nails it.
syncaine.wordpress.com 2/3/2009 — Lots of people hate kill ten rats. No I don’t mean the blog (it rocks), but that style of quest in an MMO, where some NPC with some minor issue sends you out to kill some number of enemies, only to have you come back and go kill the green ...
MMORPGs: Ultimate Hobby Or Waste Of Time

In an alternate reality I’m most likely a famous brain surgeon who does ...
